When the game goes horribly wrong...
Harrowing.
Feb 04 2017......Cleaning out my bookshelves, so reading this before I pass it on. Must say, the first chapter was interesting, and a bit funny, but after that I was a little bored. Must say that I am more into non-fiction these days, so maybe I am not the best judge. I used to love Stephen King books, but that was long ago. Oh well. Food for thought though.....keep the phone handy......or I could end up in a similar situation, as we're getting up there! (Minus the handcuff's, way too risky!)
Excellent read comparable to his book "Thinner" classic Stephen King and worth the read and it does make one think.
Not the best written Stephen King book (it's repetitive and mostly takes place in a bedroom), but there is terror in it.
It seems like I'm giving a lot away here, but not really. The summary on the back of the book hints to almost all of this and what it doesn't mention is introduced within the first five or so chapters:
Her husband gets ripped to shreds by a dog and a man watches her at night (I imagined "Death" from the TV show "Supernatural" for this role). Also, she almost dies from dehydration and blood loss and has to deal with her past of being molested as a child. And then add the fact that she's a schizophrenic. A creepy read that'll keep you wanting to carry on.
Due to these reasons, I wouldn't read it again, but I'm glad I read it.
This is a chilling book, but it left me with a neutral impression overall. Through the book, it is difficult to say whether Jessie is slipping into madness or if she is sane, until the end. Tense, creepy, the book is full of corpses, incest, and uncomfortable situations.
