Though a fairly decent retrospective on DC comics history (which serves as an intriguing snapshot of an era 15 years past, which seemingly predates the Sinestro Corps and other modern DCU staples), this edition is ultimately much less entertaining than the newer version I've previously taken out (https://hclib.bibliocommons.com/item/show/5476353109). This one has a lot of non-superhero characters from ancient war comics titles, none of which I care about, and to make matters worse, the particular copy I got turned out to be physically damaged, with two pages torn out entirely, and many others missing a corner or something. There also seem to be numerous editing errors in the text (dropped references and such), some of which a previous reader apparently decided to correct in pencil. Ultimately, this one shows its age severely, and a newer guide is heavily recommended in its place.
