Nancy Drew arrives in Phoenix, Arizona, eagerly looking forward to a fun-filled vacation at Shadow Ranch, but abruptly finds herself involved in a baffling mystery. The ranch is being haunted by an unknown enemy. Local people believe that the ghostly animal is carrying out the curse of Dirk Valentine, the romantic outlaw who was killed many years ago at Shadow Ranch, where he had gone to fulfill a promise to his sweetheart. Aided by her friends Bess Marvin and George Fayne, Nancy comes face-to-face with disaster when she is trapped inside a building that is toppled by a rockslide --a rockslide which is deliberately caused. But the pretty titian-haired detective remains undaunted in her determination to solve the mystery.

Nancy Drew in another thrilling mystery story! This time, when she is invited to Shadow Ranch with her friends, they are asked to immediately leave the next day. It turns out that the house is being "haunted", and the owners don't want anyone getting hurt. Nancy immediately offers to solve the mystery. While investigating, she gets lots more than she bargained for, however!

Nancy must investigate the belief that the ranch is being haunted and is cursed by someone. Nancy begins to get to the bottom of this as she questions locals about the curse and what they think about the ranch. Nancy herself soon finds herself facing the dangers of the "curse" as she begins to piece clues together to solve the mystery. This story was very engaging due to a large amount of suspense and adventure involved in the story. Also, the way the story incorporated the unique concept of a curse and spookiness added to how engaged I was when reading the story. Overall, The Secret of Shadow Ranch was very engaging due to the unique concept, suspense, and adventure, making it a great read.
A great read. Also try the computer game, very fun!
