I enjoyed the book.....was a little unhappy with the ending. But others might like the ending. I think depends on your own (or friends/relatives) experiences the reader has had. The story was good, though sometimes I thought really long passages could have been cut down a little. Jennifer Weiner (sp?) is a favorite author of mine.

Sylvie has done everything she can to support her Senator husband, Richard. She even feels she slightly neglected her daughters, Diana and Lizzy. When Richard's extra-marital affair makes headlines, Sylvie is forced to look at her life and what she wants to do moving forward. She returns to a childhood vacation home and begins rebuilding her life. She learns to cook and even gains a few pounds but that is okay. Diana and Lizzy have their own secrets that they have been keeping from the family. When things go belly up for them, they also return to the summer home. Secrets come out and life goes on. This was the first book that I put into Goodreads when I joined in 2014 and so glad I finally read it. Really makes you exam your life and whether you are living it as best you can along with being happy.

A fairly predictable read about a mother and her two daughters who find their lives are not all they thought or want them to be.

If you are looking for a quick easy read book to entertain while travelling or on vacation, this one might work. It is a book about a wife who molded herself into everything her husband, the senator, needed, only to discover he had an affair. She is rocked to her core and escapes to her childhood summer home to ponder her future. Sharing this pondering time is her successful doctor daughter who realizes she has built her whole life as she thought she wanted it but now finds it all hollow. Not to be left behind is the younger daughter who, of course, is not successful. She needs to sort out her aimless druggie life and hopes that coming home is the key. Yes, very much a formula, but still an interesting page-turner.

Easy, light summer read

FUNNY!

This book is pretty slow, and honestly, it's a little boring. Despite many interesting events occurring, I never felt very connected or captivated by the characters and plot. It didn't live up to its potential. I'd skip it.

I didn't like it. This book was boring and the characters weren't engaging at all. I struggled to complete this book and when it ended, I was relieved, and disappointed.

It took me a bit to get into this one, but I am glad that I stuck it out. I love Jennifer Weiner and this was a great book.
