Chinese Animal Painting Made Easy
Paperback - 2009
Chinese animal painting is an ancient form characterized by its simplicity and natural elegance. Chinese masters spent years, if not lifetimes, mastering the time-honored technique. Fortunately for artists interested in learning it, author Rebecca Yue has developed a systematic, simple approach to painting animals in this traditional tonal (non-outline) style. By first demonstrating key brushstrokes that must be mastered, Yue then gives detailed step-by-step illustrated instructions for painting 50 animals, whether they be rendered in simple outline sketches or more advanced expressive styles. Full of Yue's own beautiful animal paintings, this book will both inspire and teach beginners as well as advanced students of Chinese painting.

With sometimes fast yet calculated and sometimes repetitive and dry brush strokes this book gives life to cute, delicate, strong and fierce animals all together, showing various techniques to achieve these detailed looking drawings.
One of my favorites were the running horses. :-)
