Who doesn't adore Jack Black? And Jack Black as Lemuel Gulliver, swept up in the modern-day currents of the Bermuda triangle? Priceless!

Terrible adaptation. If you can't read, get the book as an audiobook.

Only good part - in the typed montages, you should see "Yahoo" if I remember correctly. An insult. Why would an internet company call itself that?

This movie was better than I expected, I found it to be quite funny at times. The acting isn't the greatest but it was entertaining. I especially liked the part where he constructs a stage to look like a big screen TV and has the Lilliputians act out movie scenes :) Also, in the book, Gulliver does indeed urinate on the palace to extinguish the fire.

Cute and silly in a "School of Rock" kind of way. The kids liked it too. Family friendly. Good if you like Jack Black.

Fair - Gulliver's Travels (2010) 85 min. The film starring Jack Black strips away Jonathan Swift's allegorical theme of the petty differences between the religions in Europe during the time the book was written (c. 1720s) and replaces it with crude humor and recent society's acceptance that if one feels like doing something; he does. Case in point, Gulliver (in this film; let's make that perfectly clear because it doesn't show up in the book), decides that the best way to extinguish a fire that's engulfing the king's palace is to .....urinate on it since he's a giant. In films of the past, Gulliver would've sprang to sea, used a boat to scoop up water and put out the fire. No, not today - today, we think and we do. What are we teaching the new generation? As for the film, the movie trudges along with Jack Black being Jack Black; a full grown man that hasn't grown up and through his adventures learns about virtue (to some degree) and confidence to woo his modern day version of a princess. Oh yes, the special effects are phenomenal - catch the opening credits where human beings are morphed into toy landscapes; very clever. It's too bad, the themes adequately represented in "The 3 Worlds of Gulliver (1960)" starring Kerwin Matthews and wonderful special effects by Ray Harryhausen couldn't be better defined. I'd recommend the 1960 version or even the animated 1939 Fleischer Brothers adaptation over this modern day version. Ho hum to this version that focuses on the silly rather than the more serious implications of divisions within society.
