Exhaustively written by Scott Eyman - This "John Wayne" biography takes a close-up look at both the private and the public sides of said-actor's life.

Born Marion Robert Morrison in 1907 - John Wayne was a towering man (at 6'4") who became an iconic figure in Hollywood Westerns throughout the 1940s and 50s.

Even if you're not a big Western fan, you're still sure to enjoy reading this detailed biography of "The Duke" (aka. John Wayne, aka. Marion Robert Morrison).

Looming over everyone at a towering 6'4" - Wayne, whose acting career spanned from 1926-1976, was one of Hollywood's biggest box-office draws for 30 of those years.

When it came to being "The Duke" - The man you saw on the big-screen was, indeed, the man who you met in real life.

Out of the 143 pictures that Wayne appeared in throughout his long career, 83 were Westerns.

This book, written by Scott Eyman, also includes 24 pages of photos.

*Note* - In 1976 - John Wayne (72 at the time) died of cancer of the stomach.

A good read about an American film icon, keeping in mind we are only dealing with one of the top 'entertainers' of all time. Some interesting points made about Marion Morrison (aka john Wayne)
