If you're familiar with the mythology of the Warhammer 40k universe, you understand how deep and detailed it is. If you're like me, you've been fascinated by it, particularly the schism between the Space Marines and Chaos Marines and the history behind it. The books of The Horus Heresy series, of which this is the first, detail the beginning of this history, telling the fascinating tale of how Warmaster Horus rebelled against the Emperor of Mankind, succumbed to the warp, and brought about the bloody state of the galaxy 10 millennia later in the WH40k universe. This book sets the stage, introducing the main elements of the Space Marines and the forces of the imperium, and just teasing the corruption of the Emperor's best and brightest military leaders. Highly recommended for lovers of sci-fi, fantasy, war stories, political intrigue and demonology alike.
