I have mixed feelings about this book. I really liked the illustrations, and the story is well done, and great for reading aloud to children. But I don't like how the fact that Bird expected someone else to provide for him, and gets angry when they don't produce a snake he likes, is never really addressed as rude behavior. In the story Bird's anger grows as his hunger grows. At first it is slightly humorous how he turns down the snacks his friends offer, but after the second or third time he demands to know what snack his friend provides then yells how the snack they brought themselves, and kinda offered to share is disgusting, I was slightly irritated with Bird. He does say sorry at the end, blaming his behavior on his hunger.

I really like the illustrations in this book, and think it is a great way to open up conversations about responsibility, attitude and kindness. Even just a quick 'was Bird very nice when he was hungry?' and talking to children about how they should ask for snacks would be a nice balance to the attitude of the books main character.

More like Hangry Bird! Bird is so hungry, but his friends just don't have what he wants! Will Bird finally be able to fill his belly?

Very funny illustrations! A great addition to the series. Bird is famished, but does not want the snacks his friends offer to share. In true Bird form, he has no problem expressing his feelings. It is a very fun read.

However, the author misses an opportunity to teach young readers about gratitude. Bird's hunger is satisfied, but he does not make any attempt to reconcile his behavior toward his friends.

A delightful tale of a hangry bird and his ever helpful friends. Fans of Jeremy Tankard's earlier Bird books will not be disappointed.

My favorite of Tankard's Bird books for storytime! Bird throws such spectacular tantrums that readers will get a kick out of his exaggerations. Just as in the other books, his friends are patient and helpful, even when Bird melts down. I love the ending, too!

Bird is back, and this time he is hangry (and he doesn't want any of the snacks his friends have to offer). Goodness, just look at him on the front cover--he looks so faint he just might collapse from hunger!

My favourite of the bird books (Grumpy Bird and Boo Hoo Bird).

A perfect read-aloud to share with picky eaters!
