This is the best Stones record since Dirty Works (1986),and all it took was to bang out a blues cover album in three days! What the hell have they been doing for 30 years? Counting their money that's what, going on major tours as "the greatest rock n' roll band in the world". Don't get me wrong, I have and cherish, my 20 or so Stones albums, but really they haven't put out anything worth owning for years. And this idea that the glimmer twins turned the band onto the blues is a joke, Bill Wyman and Brian Jones were the ones that turned them onto the blues.

'sounds just like the blues covers they were doing in the 60's...unfortunately over the 50 years they've been writing music, they haven't progressed past the woman-hating lyrics, despite some beautiful songs like Angie, and this album starts out with "buy me a gun and shoot at you"

Great stuff. Roots music from a fantastic band. Love it to death!

The Stones dig into the music of those early bluesmen who inspired them. Instrumentally, these sound much better than their blues covers of the Sixties. Mick's singing was better then. While these are accomplished musicians, the album was put together as a relaxation exercise, while cutting original music for a forthcoming album. Thus, they did not spend time working up striking arrangements. This is a bit of fun, but missable.

I love this CD! ...,The Stones back to their roots! 12 gritty blues covers with no frills and plenty of passion.

Thankfully, producers didn't get in the way and step on anyone's toes or otherwise bend the music to suit their own preconceived notions of what constitutes the blues. The Brits loved American blues, at least postwar Brits did, and it shows on this album by the stones. Often derided in the sixties as plastic soul-by the very rnb entertainers they so admired and wanted to emulate- blue and lonesome will stand as a loving tribute to the blues by a band made fabulously wealthy and famous as opposed to the impoverished and forgotten lot of American blues men and women.

The Rolling Stones doing what they do best, singing/playing the blues. They've been doing it for a while now. If your a true Stones fan there's no way this album will disappoint.

Good covers album, but unfortunately my biggest gripe is they didn't let Keith sing! Come on! Also, no Muddy Waters cover(s) on here. Huge missed opportunity for the Stones to record a studio rendition of anything from Muddy, especially "Mannish Boy" and/or "Champagne and Reefer" (the latter of which they've played live before). The band is literally named after one of Muddy's most famous songs. The Willie Dixon renditions are good, and honestly they could've recorded more and even have made this an even longer album. As a result, it's unfortunate that the album almost sounds like one gigantic song, and almost monotonous with just Mick Jagger singing, and absolutely no change-up in the style from song-to-song.

A fantastic album by a legendary rock band. Classic blues and a must for any fan of the blues to listen to. I've been waiting a very long time to hear this album and I was not disappointed at all.
