The film almost didn't mention Fred Rodgers military service as a Navy Corpman attached to a marine outfit. Long sleeves always due to tattoos on his forearms, as well as Capt. Kangaroo with Lee Marvin. Bit of a disservice to a veteran.

An interesting take on someone's life based on someone else's but that is typical U.S. thinking and the me mentality. Maybe his children will write about their dad someday.

Tom Hanks did a really amazing job portraying Mister Rogers!

But the movie was 80% about a fictional version of a real journalist (with a fictional family dynamic)--it wasn't a bad movie, but I wish it had been 80% about Mister Rogers instead!

Also, side note: real life terrible dads generally don't change for the better as they get older or apologize or understand that they did wrong...in real life it's okay to cut a horrible family member out of your real life for you and your chosen family's sake!

I liked this movie. Tom H was very good and so was the reporter I forgot his name. It's a quiet film where it seems like not much happens but its message of forgiveness, kindness and redemption is loud and authentic. Definitely recommended.

Very good movie. Mr. Rogers was one of the nicest guys in the world.

A really well done film. It was not a biography about Mr. Rogers, but more of a movie about the impact of Mr. Rogers. Tom Hanks was so good. He is such a big star, I wasn't sure if he could truly embody an icon like Mr. Rogers, but truly you forget he is Tom Hanks and he becomes Mr. Rogers. I didn't really like the main character, the reporter, very much, but that seemed to be the point. The way Mr. Rogers was able to influence the reporter Lloyd Vogel through the powerful example of his kindness, compassion, genuineness and warmth made for a powerful and moving film. It's a quiet film where it seems like not much happens but its message of forgiveness, kindness and redemption is loud and authentic. Definitely recommended.

Interesting way to combine drama for the adults while keeping the trademark Mister Rogers elements for the children. The world needs more Mister Rogers and Maya Angelou people leaders ... without turning the world into a Communist/Socialist earth.

The acting of Tom Hanks was very much like the original TV show. I found the movie interesting with a bit more in the background of the original shows and man.

I was not expected a man of such quality and love.

I greatly appreciated the honour with which Mr. Rogers operated his show. There is so much to learn from this remarkable man of character for us all.

I watched the first Muppets movie and loved it. I thought this movie would do the same thing for Mister Rogers as the Muppet movies did for the Muppet TV show. I was wrong and the kids boredom soon turned into a major rebellion and we had to stomp out of the movie theatre popcorn in hand. Pizza, ice cream and the beach didn't quite make up for the disappointment.

So how does it feel to be married to a living saint?
-You know, I'm not fond of that term. If you think of him as a saint, then his way of being is unattainable. You know, he works at it all the time. It's a practice. He's not a perfect person. He has a temper. He chooses how he responds to that anger.
That must take a lot of effort.
-Well, yeah, he... He does things every day that help to ground him. Reads Scripture, swims laps, prays for people by name. Writes letters, hundreds of them. He's been doing that since I met him.
So... you've covered some heavy stuff, uh, especially for a show aimed at children.
-Oh, I'm glad you've had the chance to view the program. Death, divorce, war. It gets dark.
You know, death is something many of us are uncomfortable speaking about. But to die is to be human. And anything human is mentionable. Anything mentionable is manageable. Anything mentionable is manageable.
