Powerfully relatable. Holmes is able to vividly convey emotions with a soft, subtle touch, those of a lonely nine-year-old boy. I feel the book is most effective when Nathan is interacting with the real world and the story spends too much time in his fantasy escape. Aside from that, it's poignant and fully enjoyable.
