I wish I had seen this book first, rather than gathering bits and pieces from many books to teach my son about Canada! With large colourful pictures and clear descriptions, this atlas provides a terrific overview of Canada and each of the provinces and territories. The first few pages teach what a map is, how we have taken our round planet and drawn it flat, and how to read a map. The next two pages are a summary of Canada's history, followed by two pages explaining the legends and scale of the book's maps with many pictures and colour. The following pages have two maps of each province (the territories are combined): "The first map shows you the natural features of each province You'll discover the plants and animals that live there, the particular details of its landscape and the wealth of its underground minerals. The second map shows you how Canadians live. You'll learn about he industries that are important to each region, where major cities and points of interest are located and how people live day to day." A wonderful resource!
