This film drew me in right away and found it to be a pleasure to watch this remake of the 1971 film Beguiled, based upon the 1966 novel written by Thomas Cullinan. The talent pool works well together with Sophia Coppola's (The Virgin Suicides: 1999; Lost in Translation: 2003; Marie Antoinette: 2006; The Bling Ring: 2013) direction and writing, the film's cinematography and the sets attention to 1864 detail is a viewing treasure. Good performances by Nicole Kidman (Dead Calm: 1989; Moulin Rouge!: 2001; Lion: 2016; Genius; 2016; Aquaman: 2018), Kirstun Dunst (Interview with a Vampire: 1994; Jumanji: 1995; Mona Lisa Smile: 2003; Elizabethtown: 2005; Spider-Man: 2002, 2004 & 2007; ), Elle Fanning (I Am Sam: 2001; Super 8: 2011; We Bought a Zoo: 2011; Maleficent: 2014; Trumbo: 2015; Teen Spirit: 2018), Colin Firth (Phone 2002; Booth: Total Recall: 2012; Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: 2016), and the rest of the young cast, mended perfectly together weaving the innocence and tension that was needed to make this enjoyable to watch. Bonus feature has 11 minutes of interviews with the director and most of the cast members.
